Peter zu Rantzau (1733–1809)

Peter Graf zu Rantzau (* 1733 ; † August 22, 1809 in Uetersen Monastery ) was Royal Danish Chamberlain, Land and Government Councilor in Glückstadt and provost in Uetersen Monastery.

Life

He came from the influential noble family Rantzau and was elected provost of the monastery in Uetersen on September 16, 1785 and was thus in the service of the Danish crown. He was the grandfather of the writer Theodor von Kobbe , who wrote about him: I have been in this monastery town since 1804 and after the death of my grandfather, the prelate Count Rantzau there in August 1809, ... the little good that was in mine a happy nature ... I owe all of this to him, the amiable, poetic and well-informed man ... I make my dearest memories of Uetersen . Peter zu Rantzau died in August 1809, a few years after his wife, and he was buried in the monastery maiden cemetery.
