Elsa Plath-Langheinrich , née Elsa Langheinrich , (born January 21, 1932 in Gersfeld ) is a German author and local history researcher .

Life

She was born in the rectory in Gersfeld (Rhön) and grew up with her six siblings. She attended the Marienschule in Fulda and in 1950 began studying catechetics and church music at the church music school in Schlüchtern . There she met her future husband Richard Plath (born August 19, 1930 in Kiel; December 23, 2010 in Uetersen). After completing her studies, she got a position as cantor and organist at St. Thomas Church in Lübeck . She gave up these activities in 1956 and followed Richard Plath , the future cantor and church music director of the Uetersen monastery church, to Uetersen to marry him there. As a wife, Elsa Plath-Langheinrich remained professionally committed and gave piano lessons, supported her husband's work even after their three children were born (second born: Ulrike Streck-Plath ). In addition, she began with intensive historical studies of the Uetersen monastery , the most important result of which was the book Als Goethe nach Uetersen wrote in 1989 : The life of the Conventual Augusta Louise was Countess zu Stolberg-Stolberg . In addition to her work as an author, she also looks after the historical archive of Uetersen Monastery. She also founded the “Klostertage Uetersen” association, which organizes concerts and lectures every two years.
