Superflex
Superflex are a Danish artist group founded in 1993 by Rasmus Nielsen (born 1969), Jakob Fenger (born 1968) and Bjørnstjerne Christiansen (born 1969) in Copenhagen . Your projects are closely related to social engagement, alternative economies and self-organization. In recent years, Superflex has developed a number of tools that focus on their work with the aim of participation and emancipation . “Supergas” (1998) is a project for the production and use of simple, portable biogas plants that were installed on site in Asia and Africa with the help of African and Danish engineers . In addition, numerous other projects have emerged in recent years, such as the fairly produced soft drink “ Guaraná Power” or the open source beer Vores Øl (later developed as “ Free Beer ”).
Together with the programmer Sean Treadway, Superflex developed an internet platform in 1998 and 1999 that made it possible to distribute your own video productions. Superchannel offers a platform for groups of all kinds to communicate their ideas. The spectrum of users ranges from musicians, political activists, and artists to art institutions. The first channel on Superchannel went on air in May 1999 and has since grown to over 31 channels. Superflex support the development of new channels and provide know-how and technical support in cooperation with various experts.
Superflex take up strategies of economic action, for example mechanisms of brand identity and value creation processes . The aim is u. a. To develop and implement models of counter-economies. Developed tools can be adopted by groups, institutions and individuals and modified for their own interests. The central focus is always the interest in processes of participation and self-empowerment.
