history

The Rickmers Antwerp

There are three series of this type of ship. In the years 2002 to 2004 nine units were built for the Rickmers-Linie, and since the end of 2010 further ships of this type have been delivered to the Rickmers Group, which chartered them out to Hyundai Merchant Marine. The delivery of the last two replicas is planned for October and November 2011 with the Rickmers Inchon and Rickmers Busan . The ships were built at the Chinese shipyards of Nanjing Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry in Xiamen and Shanghai Shipyard & Chengxi Shipyard in Shanghai. These ships are used in the round-the-world "Round-The-World Pearl String Service", a liner service for heavy lift and project cargo of the Hamburg Rickmers-Linie. The four units built in 2010/2011 are used by the charterer Hyundai Merchant Marine between the Middle East and the Far East. The first ship in this series of four was the Rickmers Masan , in service with Hyundai Merchant Marine as Hyundai Masan . The ships are powered by seven-cylinder two-stroke diesel engines of the type 7 S 60 MC-C under license from MAN B&W with an output of 15,785 kW, which act on a single propeller. The cargo is handled with four cranes . The front crane has a lifting capacity of 45 tons, the rear one of 100 tons. The two middle cranes are designed for 320 tons each and can move up to 640 tons in coupled operation. The holds are by the equipment with movable intermediate deck designed especially flexible.

AAL / PAS (Austral Asia Line), which operates in the Australian traffic, has ordered a series of 10 further developed ships of this type with the AAL Brisbane class, which have been delivered since the end of 2010. At 31,000 dwt, these have a slightly higher loading capacity. In addition, the two middle cranes each have a lifting capacity that is 30 tons higher, which combined increases to 700 tons.
