The Supernova Group (in short: Supernova) is an international, privately owned real estate company based in Graz , whose focus is particularly on retail properties in Austria , Slovenia , Croatia , Romania and Slovakia . The asset value of the 80 properties held by Supernova with an annual rent of around 100 million euros in ownership amounted to more than 1.5 billion euros as of December 31, 2019, according to the company's own information.

Business model

The Supernova Group buys real estate and operates it. The company operates numerous shopping centers and specialist markets in Slovenia and Croatia under the Supernova brand . According to observers, Supernova currently occupies a leading position in this segment. In Austria, Supernova gained national recognition through the takeover of around 60 former bauMax DIY stores in 2015. The company states that the Supernova objects are visited by around 80 million customers annually. In addition to the company's headquarters in Graz, Supernova also has offices in Vienna , Ljubljana and Zagreb .

history

Supernova was founded in 1994 in Graz by Frank Albert under the name Albert Immobilienprojektierungs-GmbH . In addition to classic project development, the company also dealt with the sale of drugstore items. This company was later renamed Supernova Invest GmbH. The first retail property was realized in Ljubljana , Slovenia as early as 1998 . In Slovenia, Supernova now has a supraregional shopping center (Ljubljana Rudnik), three specialist retail centers (Nova Gorica, Maribor and Koper) and three DIY stores operated by Obi (Maribor, Celje and Nova Gorica).

From 2005, the expansion of the shopping and specialist retail centers under the “Supernova” brand was extended to Croatia. Currently operates supernova in Croatia a nationwide shopping center in Zadar , two local shopping malls (Garden Mall in Zagreb, Colosseum in Slavonski Brod) and three inner-city shopping centers in Zagreb (Branimir, Cvjetni and Kaptol) and a total of eight shopping or retail parks in Zagreb Buzin, Varazdin, Koprivnica, Sisak East, Sisak West, Slavonski Brod, Karlovac and Sibenik.

2015 Supernova took over 60 locations of the DIY chain bauMax in Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia, together with the parent company of the owner family Essl, creating a revitalization and rental of OBI was made possible. In mid-February 2019, Supernova expanded its portfolio to include ten Slovenian shopping and specialist retail centers (including in Ljubljana, Kranj, Koper) of the Mercator Group, with the corresponding contracts already signed in October 2018. Supernova is currently leasing business space to a number of international companies, including OBI , Spar / Interspar, Deichmann , dm , H&M , ZARA , New Yorker , Müller and C&A .
