The Surprise Glacier is a glacier in Denali National Preserve south of Denali National Park in the US state of Alaska . The glacier is located in the west-central section of the Alaska range about 13 km north of Mount Dall . It has two spring glaciers of roughly the same size, which come together from the south and north. The main glacier then flows to the west and later to the southwest. The glacier has a maximum length of 13 km. At the lower end of the glacier there is a glacial lake that drains to the Tonzona River .
