The Mount Dall is a 2,669  m high mountain in the Alaska Range in Alaska (USA). The mountain was named by AH Brooks of the US Geological Survey (USGS) in 1902 after William Healey Dall (1845-1927), a naturalist who explored interior Alaska.

geography

The mountain is located in the west-central section of the Alaska range 85 km southwest of Denali . Mount Dall is flanked by the tributary glaciers of the Dall Glacier . The next higher mountains are at a distance of over 26 km: Walleye Peak in the northeast and Kichatna Spire in the southwest.

Ascent history

The first ascent was made on July 26, 1970 by a group of six US climbers consisting of Charles Hildebolt, Art Ward, Patrick Freeney, John Bridge, Wendell Oderkirk and Bob Smith. The ascent route led from the glacier below the northeast flank of the mountain over the southeast ridge to the summit.
