Susana Higuchi

Susana Shizuko Higuchi Miyagawa (born April 26, 1950 in Peru - † December 8, 2021 ) was a Peruvian politician and engineer . She was the wife of the former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori .

Life

Higuchi, daughter of Japanese parents, was born in Peru. She was married to Fujimori from 1974 until their divorce in 1998. She was one of the first to accuse her husband of criminal machinations over clothing donations in 1992. In 1994 she called him a tyrant and his government corrupt . Fujimori then formally revoked the title of First Lady in August 1994 and let her eldest daughter Keiko Fujimori take over this position. Higuchi then founded her own political party, the Armonía Frempol, and ran for mayor in Lima. But the supreme electoral authority of Peru excluded her and her party coalition ("Harmony 20th Century - Frempol") from the presidential and parliamentary elections in April 1995.

From 2000 to 2006 she was a member of the Frente Independiente Moralizador (FIM) party of Fernando Olivera, a member of the Peruvian Congress .

From her marriage to Alberto Fujimori she had four children: Keiko , Hiro, Sachi and Kenji .

She died on December 8, 2021 at the age of 71 from complications from cancer.
