Susana Muñiz

María Susana Muñiz Jiménez (born April 28, 1965 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan politician .

Susana Muñiz, who has a doctorate, successfully completed her medical studies at the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) in October 1996 . Muñiz, who belongs to the Partido Comunista de Uruguay and was a member of the Unión de Juventudes Comunistas from 1983 , held various offices in the health sector. Until at least February 2013 she was director of the "Segundo Nivel de Atención" in the Administración de los Servicios de Salud del Estado (ASSE). Muñiz has been Minister of Health in the José Mujica government since February 25, 2013, succeeding Jorge Enrique Venegas .

Muñiz is married and has one son.
