Susanne Hähnchen (born May 20, 1969 in Berlin-Pankow ) is a German lawyer and professor at Bielefeld University .

Life

Hahnchen graduated from the Georg-Friedrich-Händel-Oberschule in Berlin in 1987 and then began training before she began studying law at the Free University of Berlin in 1990 . She successfully passed the first state examination in law in 1995. During her subsequent legal clerkship at the Court of Appeal , she worked as a research assistant for Uwe Wesel , where she also received her doctorate in 2001 . In 2002, her dissertation was awarded the "Ernst Reuter Prize" by the Free University of Berlin. She had already passed her second state examination in 1998. After successfully completing her doctorate, she worked as a research assistant to Friedrich Ebel at the Free University of Berlin until 2005 . In May 2007 habilitation them there and received venia legendi for the subjects Civil Law , Roman Law and Private Insurance Law .

This was followed by substitute professorships at the Universities of Bielefeld , Münster and Göttingen until, in 2010, she accepted the chair for civil law, German and European legal history and private insurance law from Bielefeld University. She has held this professorship to this day. She has been running the website Recht-Kinderleicht.de since 2014. Legal issues that affect children and young people in particular are explained in an understandable manner.

In 2018, Hahnchen received an Ars legendi faculty award .

Susanne Hähnchen teaches and researches in particular family law , legal methodology and legal history . She is married and has two children.
