Suthida Vajiralongkorn (* 3. June 1978 in Bangkok as Suthida Tidjai , complete domination title, Thai สมเด็จ พระนางเจ้า สุ ทิ ดา พัชร สุธา พิมล ลักษณ พระบรม ราชินี Somdet Phra Nang Chao Suthida Phatcharasutha Phimon Lak Phra Borommarachini ) is the wife of the Thai king Vajiralongkorn and Date May 1, 2019 Queen of Thailand .

Life and career

Suthida was born in Bangkok. She graduated from private Assumption University and earned a bachelor's degree in communications. She then worked as a flight attendant for Thai Airways .

After the marriage of the then Crown Prince and today's King Maha Vajiralongkorn with Princess Srirasmi Suwadee was divorced in 2014, Suthida appeared publicly as the new woman at the side of the Crown Prince. From August 2014 she held the post of commandant of the Crown Prince Guard.

In December 2016, Suthida was appointed commander of the Thai Army Special Forces and rose to general. Since July 2017 she has been the commander of the Aide-de-Camp division of the Thai army.

In addition to her, Vajiralongkorn had a co-wife in 2019 with Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi (* 1985). In October 2019, however, this was ostracized by the king and all ranks were revoked; the reason he cited "disrespectful behavior" towards his wife, Queen Suthida.

Queen of Thailand

On May 1, 2019, King Maha Vajiralongkorn appointed Suthida Queen of Thailand during a ceremony at the Royal Palace in Bangkok . The President of the Privy Council and former Thai Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn were present as witnesses .

Title and salutation

As the wife of the King of Thailand, Suthida is entitled to be Her Majesty Queen Suthida . Already in 2017 she was raised to the nobility by King Maha Vajiralongkorn. With the marriage on May 1, 2019, Suthida received the title of Queen of Thailand. Since the official coronation of Maha Vajiralongkorn on May 4, 2019, Suthida has also had several other honorary titles (see: Thai nobility titles ).
