The Suture Bench (English for seam bench ) is a terrace-like hill in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Mesa Range , it rises at the southeast end of Gair Mesa above the head end of the Campbell Glacier .
The northern group of a 1962-1963 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition . It was named after the fact that a sled dog was so badly injured in a fight with another that its wounds had to be stitched .
