The Svarthausen (Norwegian for black rock ) is a rugged nunatak made of dark rock with an appendage at the southwestern end on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It rises 6 km south-southeast of Mount Caroline Mikkelsen on the western flank of the Polar Times Glacier .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named it descriptively, mapped it using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 .
