Sven Schäfer (born January 16, 1971 in Wuppertal ) is a German journalist and publisher of Faze magazine .

Life

Schäfer was born the youngest of three brothers. During his school days at the Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium in Wuppertal, he was interested in journalism and was a member of the editorial team of the school newspaper "die unfinierte". After graduating from high school in 1990, he began training as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk in the Wuppertal company "Storchwerke" and worked as a DJ on the side . As a regular vinyl buyer, he became aware of the " Raveline ", which was still available free of charge at the time, and applied there as a record reviewer. After a few months of freelance work, he was offered a permanent position by the then editor-in-chief Felice Götze, which Schäfer accepted in 1996.

In 2000 he started as a junior A & R manager for the Warner Music Group owned label eastwest Records to work in Hamburg. Through various successful signings (including Toktok , Sono and above all Elektrochemie LK ) he decided at the end of 2001 to set up his own label in Cologne together with his partners Axel Lünebach and Jörg Offer: Silly Spider Music with the sublabels Casa Rosso, Fittipaldi and Amontillado. Here published u. a. Erick Morillo , Drax, DJ Hooligan or Phil Fuldner and Moguai . After the bankruptcy of Silly Spider Music, Schäfer returned to the magazine “Raveline” as editor-in-chief and stayed there until the bankruptcy in winter 2011. After the takeover of the “Raveline” brand failed, the editorial team founded the magazine FAZE, which was published from 2012 to 2015 in Was based in Cologne and has been in Wuppertal since 2016.
