Sven Schröder (born March 25, 1964 in East Berlin ) is a non-party German politician ( PRO , AfD ). On April 29, 2019, he announced his departure from the AfD.

Life

After attending the polytechnic high school , he trained as a skilled mason craftsman from 1980 to 1982. He then began training as an insurance specialist in 1990 and worked as an insurance agent. In 1999 he became sales manager at a house building company. Since 2002 he has been a project manager for the construction of single and two-family houses.

From November 2013 to April 2019 he was a member of the AfD. He was u. a. Deputy spokesman for the state committee for energy and the environment, assessor in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district board and in the state board of AfD Brandenburg and responsible for internal communication in the state association.

In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , he was a direct candidate in the state constituency of Potsdam-Mittelmark II (constituency 18). It reached 9.9 percent and entered the Brandenburg state parliament via the state list (4th place on the list) , to which it belonged until 2019. There he was chairman of the committee for rural development, the environment and agriculture from December 2014 to April 2019.

According to information from the news magazine Der Spiegel , in his nomination speech in May 2014, when asked, he confirmed that he was a member of the small party citizen movement pro Germany, which is considered right-wing extremist. However, he had not stated this until then, since he had assumed that Pro Deutschland was more of an association than a party.

On 25 September 2016 he was a candidate for election to the District Administrator of the district Potsdam-Mittelmark . With 16.3% (3rd place) he did not reach the runoff election.

Schröder is married and has two children. He lives in Borkheide .
