Svend Stouge

Svend Stouge (* 1942 ) is a Danish geologist . He is an associate professor (as of 2008) at the University of Copenhagen and works at the Geological Museum there.

Stouge researches the taxonomy of the conodonts as well as the biostratigraphy and stratigraphy of the early Paleozoic Era . He suggested 2005 as part of an international group of researchers a GSSP (Worldwide geological reference point) for the Dapingium (about 471.8 to 468.1 mya ) in front, the hitherto unnamed chronostratigraphic stage in Mittelordovizium . The ICS (International Commission for Stratigraphy) accepted the proposal in 2007.

Svend Stouge is editor of Lethaia , an international journal for paleontology and stratigraphy that appears four times a year .
