history

The company was founded in 1947 by Fred A. Lennon (1905–1998) in Solon , Ohio . The company's headquarters are still located there today. Today's global company started as a small family business, with an initial loan of just $ 500. The most important product was a newly developed type of screw connection, which is based on a purely mechanical-metallic seal shape that offers high and permanent tightness . Various companies specializing in certain product lines have been spun off or acquired and are combined in the Swagelok Group . This consists of the companies Cajon Company (1954), Nuclear Products, or NUPRO (1956), Whitey Tool (1958), Sno-Trik (1967), Kenmac Limited (2003), HyLevel Co. (2005), Coreflex (2007) , RHPS (2011) and IPT Co. (2012).

In 2001, Fred A. Lennon was inducted into the Northeast Ohio Business Hall of Fame.
