Swallah

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swallah or Swalish were a Native American tribe that lived in what is now Washington State .

Culturally, they belonged to the coastal Salish and they spoke a Lkung dialect, like the Lummi , on whose current reservation they lived.

The ethnologist John R. Swanton believed they lived on the San Juan Islands , between Washington and Vancouver Island . Accordingly, they lived in the southeast of Orcas Island , on the east side of San Juan Island , and in two villages on Waldron Island . Otherwise practically nothing is known about them.
