from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swantibor , also Swantibor V. (* around 1454 , † 1464 ) was a prince of Pomerania from the Greifenhaus .

Swantibor was born as the eldest son of Duke Wartislaw X. von Pommern-Wolgast and his wife Elisabeth von Brandenburg around 1454. In the summer semester of 1462, when he was about eight years old, he was enrolled at the University of Greifswald . A dispute between Duke Erich II , the brother of Wartislaw X, and the city of Greifswald had previously been settled. Swantibor was the first prince's son, who attended this by his grandfather, Duke Wartislaw IX. University founded in 1456 was enrolled. For the winter semester 1462/1463 Swantibor was elected rector of the university, which honored the grandson of its founder.

Swantibor died of the plague in 1464, at the same time as his younger brother Ertmar. His parents lost their only children together. His mother Elisabeth had a son from her first marriage to Duke Joachim the Younger , Duke Otto III. from Pomerania-Stettin, who also died of the plague in 1464.

count

The counting of the rulers of the Griffin House has always been involved. There has been an inequality here from age that causes some confusion. The more modern approach basically only counts those relatives of the closer Greifenhaus who have reached adulthood . After that, Swantibor will not receive a number. If, however, one counts all members of the Greifenhaus, the result is the count as Swantibor V. , which was to be found in the older literature.
