history

The Zvezda Stadium in Perm , a city of just under a million people in western European Russia, was built in 1969 and opened on June 5 of the same year. It was subsequently called the Lenin Komsomol Stadium . With the end of the Soviet Union at the beginning of the 1990s, the name of the Perm stadium also changed, and from then on it bore the name Zvezda Stadium , which is still valid today . The Zvezda Stadium currently holds 16,873 spectators. However, the capacity of the sports facility, which is multifunctional but is now mostly used for soccer games, was once well over 20,000 spectator seats. Through renovation and security work over the years, the capacity has been reduced to the current figures.

The Zvezda Stadium is home to two local football clubs. FK Zvezda Perm, reactivated in 2018, is currently playing its home games there. Zvezda will compete in the third-class Perwenstwo PFL in the 2020/21 season . Previously, the Amkar Perm club, founded in 1993, was based in the stadium. The club played in the Premjer League from 2004 until it was dissolved in 2018 . Thus, for many years, the Zvezda Stadium was the venue for games of the highest Russian football league. The stadium is also represented in the top Russian women's division, as the home games of Zvezda 2005 Perm take place here. Zvezda 2005 Perm has already won three Russian women's championships and is one of the best teams in the country. In 2009 Zvezda 2005 Perm in the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League , but they were defeated by the German representative FCR 2001 Duisburg .
