The Swinemünde Bridge in the Gesundbrunnen district of Berlin was built from 1902 to 1905 according to plans by the architect Bruno Möhring and the engineer Friedrich Krause . The 228 meter long riveted steel frame construction spans the track system east of the Berlin Gesundbrunnen train station on two brick pillars, above which 17 meter high portal posts rise.

The bridge connects Bellermannstrasse and Swinemünder Strasse , after which it was named. The steel structure was the company Beuchelt & Co. executed. The Berlin vernacular gave it the name Millions Bridge , on the one hand because its construction cost around one million marks (adjusted for purchasing power today around 6 million euros), on the other hand because a large number of rivets were visibly built into it . The bridge, which was badly damaged in the Second World War and the middle section of which collapsed, was able to be used again from 1954 after repairs - a new, but now welded, half-timbered field ensured this. In 2005 it was subjected to a lengthy renovation. Problems with this delayed the construction work and caused the costs to rise to around one million euros, so that it once again lived up to its "popular name".

Others

The bridge is often used for filming. Most of the time, the nearby Bornholmer Strasse border crossing or the Glienicke Bridge are shown on it. For example, scenes from the film Das Wunder von Berlin or Bornholmer Strasse were shot on the Swinemünder Brücke.
