swissworld / swissworld.org was until ... [please, complete] the official cultural studies portal for Switzerland , today the information appears on Discover Switzerland .

History and organization

swissworld was published by Presence Switzerland in the General Secretariat of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) . Presence Switzerland was founded in 2000 as the successor organization to the Coordination Commission for the Presence of Switzerland Abroad (KOKO) in order to “promote the worldwide communication of an authentic image of modern Switzerland”.

The swissworld.org website went online in June 2005. On August 1, 2007, on the occasion of the national holiday , a new look was presented. This introduced the interactive elements of Swiss keywords , an image database that can be sent by electronic postcard , as well as teaching materials and the Swiss Blog as a user forum. For example, 10 “success stories” from the Schweiz Aktuell series, Story Switzerland, about Swiss inventions of recent years were recorded as the first image material . In 2010, an excerpt was published as lecture documents under the name Swiss Memory Stick .

Instead of swissworld, ... Discover Switzerland has been published on the FDFA website , eda . admin.ch / aboutswitzerland .

The information will continue to be created in cooperation with other public bodies, scientific and commercial institutions and also made available to private individuals. Images and sound material, for example, come from Swiss Radio International  (SRI) and the Swiss Radio and Television Company  (SRG) in particular .
