Friedrich Wilhelm Neuendorf (born April 24, 1887 in Berlin , † February 3, 1967 in Cochem ) was a German homeland researcher.

life and career

He learned the printing trade in his hometown, before he probably ended up with a traveling circus in Cochem on the Moselle at the beginning of the 20th century . He had been living in Cochem since 1906 and practiced his learned profession as a printer in the printing works of CF Wiebrecht in Ravenéstraße (Cochem). The printing house was bought in 1917 by Peter Matthias Eckerskorn, in which the "Cochemer Zeitung" had been printed since the previous century. Here he was a typesetter . The activity in the book printer and the related preoccupation with the events in Cochem probably aroused his interest and he began to deal extensively with the history of his adopted home. He also took an active part in the Cochem club life, especially in the gymnastics club "Eintracht". In the Turngau "Mosel" he held the office of Gau hiking warden. In 1946 he retired. In numerous treatises he dealt with the history of Cochem and the surrounding area. For his services he was appointed honorary chairman by the Cochemer Heimat- und Verkehrsverein in 1965, and the Cochem gymnastics club awarded him honorary membership and the golden badge of honor. He was awarded the badge of honor by the Deutscher Turnerbund and the Landessportbund Rheinland-Pfalz .
