Switchboard (magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Switchboard - magazine for men and boys 'work was a specialist magazine published from 1989 to 2014 that initially served as an information service in its editions of various topics relating to men, fathers and boys' work . Switchboard was published four times a year and was available by subscription.

Switchboard's concern was to provide practical information on (re) orientation in terms of personal and men's politics and, at the same time, to promote supra-regional networking for all people and organizations interested in men's issues . The magazine took up critical and constructive questions about the self-image and practice of "masculinity (s)", documented a steadily growing number of initiatives, projects and other (institutional) providers oriented in this regard, and supported them with corresponding contributions in their ideas and work approaches .

Switchboard included a calendar of events. This was visible online and freely accessible.

It was aimed at interested men and women, institutions with offers for men and boys' work, advice centers, men's offices, denominational and non-denominational organizations for social work, educational institutions, youth welfare organizations, professional associations and therapeutic practices. Ministries, libraries and equality departments were also part of the target group .

The editors and editors were Alexander Bentheim and Andreas Haase with the editorial offices in Hamburg and Detmold . Switchboard was published by the publisher maennerwege GbR, Hamburg.

The Heinrich Böll Foundation Hamburg named Switchboard magazine as a cooperation partner.

After the magazine was discontinued at the end of 2014, its homepage will gradually be expanded into a publicly accessible archive. Since June 2015 Switchboard has been replaced by the Internet portal www.maennerwege.de, for which Alexander Bentheim and the long-time Switchboard author Frank Keil are responsible. It offers articles, interviews, book reviews and photo series, most of them as downloads, also by guest authors.
