SyQuest Technology, Inc. (also known as SYQT, Inc. known) was one of the leading manufacturers of removable hard drives . Until the bankruptcy at the end of 1998, the company's drives and media were the quasi-epitome for backup and data exchange technology , especially in very data-intensive areas of application such as image processing and print preparation .
After the bankruptcy, most of the rights and patents as well as large parts of the company were taken over by the fiercest competitor Iomega . The company changed its name to SyQt and continued to operate an internet shop for a few years, in which the subsidiary Syquest Repair sold reconditioned SyJet and SparQ drives.
With a few exceptions, the SyQuest drives were connected to the computer via a SCSI interface.
