The Sydney Blue Sox are a professional baseball team from the Australian metropolis of Sydney . You are one of six founding teams of the Australian Baseball League, which was newly formed in 2010 .

history

The establishment of the Australian Baseball League was announced in July 2009 at a press conference in Gold Coast . The Sydney Blue Sox were one of the six founding teams of the newly formed league. " Sydney Sting" , "Sydney Rocks" , "Sydney Surf" and "Sydney Bluewave" were initially discussed as team names before the current name was chosen. The home ground was the Blacktown Olympic Park, which was also used at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. The first home game took place on November 6, 2010 against the Canberra Cavalry .

On August 19, 2010, the Blue Sox took Glenn Williams as their first manager for the 2010/11 season under contract. Williams had previously played for the Minnesota Twins in Major League Baseball . In their first season, the Blue Sox reached first place in the league during the regular season. However, the team has not yet been able to win a championship title in the ABL.
