history

Sylius was the name of a small family business that sold cosmetics online and for which Paweł Jędrzejewski set up his first online shop around 2010. The main supplier started selling directly in Poland itself, so the company had to close, but he was left with the name and a full shop engine implemented from scratch in PHP. In 2011, he rewrote parts of the system and published them as independent open source Symfony bundles. Surprisingly, the community found them interesting and some developers and companies (like 20th Century Fox ) used them to create their custom applications. In 2013, the first Sylius Core Team in Jędrzejewski's agency started developing a very early version of the Sylius Framework, experimental and mainly contributory.

After a little over a year, Sylius 2104 was a company with 13 employees.

At the end of 2015 it was decided to revise the existing one and finally release a more complete, organized version of the framework. It took almost a year to release v1.0.0-beta.1 in November 2016.

At the beginning of 2017, for various reasons, the team decided to part with the agency and start a new company called Sylius . In a new office, two more beta releases in 2017, increased marketing and community efforts, stabilized Sylius and brought out version 1.0.
