Sylvia Jackson (politician)

Sylvia Jackson (* 1946 ) is a Scottish politician and a member of the Labor Party .

In the Scottish general elections in 1999 Jackson stood as a candidate for the Labor Party in the constituency of Stirling . She won the direct mandate well ahead of the SNP candidate . and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament . In the parliamentary elections in 2003 she defended her constituency, but lost the majority to the candidate of the SNP, Bruce Crawford , in the parliamentary elections in 2007 . At the 2011 parliamentary elections Jackson has not raced for more.

Jackson studied chemistry at Hull University and graduated with a bachelor's degree . She received her PhD from the University of Stirling . Jackson subsequently worked as a teacher and lecturer.
