Sylvia Wilz

Sylvia Marlene Wilz (* 1964 in Hanau ) is a German sociologist .

Life

From 1983 to 1986 she completed a technical college degree in librarianship. From 1986 to 1996 she was a qualified librarian at the University Library in Frankfurt am Main . From 1987 to 1994 she studied sociology, minor subjects social psychology, politics, polytechnics and industrial studies at the University of Frankfurt am Main , degree: Diploma . From 1994 to 1995 she worked at the Frankfurt office for poverty reporting. From 1995 to 1998 she worked at the Landesinstitut Sozialforschungsstelle Dortmund. From 1996 to 1998 she conducted research in the DFG graduate college "Gender Relations and Social Change". From 1999 to 2000 she was a research assistant in the field of general sociology / sociological women's studies at Bielefeld University . After her doctorate in 2000 in Bielefeld , Faculty of Sociology, she worked from 2000 to 2003 as a research assistant in the DFG project "Gender Constructions in Organizational Change Using the Example of Police" at Bielefeld University. From 2003 to 2004 she taught as a junior professor for sociology at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics . From 2004 to 2009 she was junior professor for the sociology of organizational decisions at the FernUniversität in Hagen . Since 2010 she has been a professor for organizational sociology and qualitative methods in Hagen .

Her main areas of work are work and organizational sociology, qualitative methods and gender sociology. Her main research interests are microsociological analysis of work and organization, decisions by and in organizations, personnel selection and personnel consulting, processes of gender differentiation in organizations and police research.
