Symbol politics
Symbol politics denotes a politics based on gestures . It does not directly change the concrete situation or the concrete problem, but is intended to provoke certain reactions. One of the best-known examples of symbolic politics is the kneeling in Warsaw of former Chancellor Willy Brandt , who asks Poland for forgiveness for the German crimes during World War II .
