Gertrude Lübbe-Wolff

Gertrude Lübbe-Wolff (born January 31, 1953 in Weitensfeld , Austria ) is a German legal scholar . From 2002 to 2014 she was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court and in this position she was the successor to Jutta Limbach .

Life

After studying law at the University of Bielefeld , the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Harvard Law School , she received her doctorate in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1980 . From 1979 to 1987 she was a research assistant in Bielefeld, followed by her habilitation in 1987 in the subjects of public law, the constitutional history of the modern era and legal philosophy. From 1988 to 1992 Lübbe-Wolff was the head of the water protection office in Bielefeld, after which she accepted a professorship for public law at the law faculty of Bielefeld University. In 2000 Lübbe-Wolff was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation, the most highly endowed German science prize. From 2000 to 2002 she was Chair of the Council of Experts on the Environment . On March 15, 2002, the Bundestag elected her constitutional judge; From 2002 to 2014 Lübbe-Wolff was a member of the second senate of the Federal Constitutional Court.

Gertrude Lübbe-Wolff is married to the philosopher Michael Wolff and has four children. Her father Hermann Lübbe is a professor emeritus for philosophy and political theory at the University of Zurich. Her sister Weyma Lübbe is professor of philosophy at the University of Regensburg, her sister Anna Lübbe is professor of procedural law and extrajudicial conflict resolution at the University of Fulda .
