Professor Erik Gawel

Erik Gawel (* 1963 in Siegen / Westf. ) Is a German economist ( VWL ), environmental economist and university professor. He teaches at the University of Leipzig , works at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research - UFZ , Department of Economics, and works as a publicly appointed and sworn expert for the cost accounting of public and non-commercial enterprises.

biography

After studying economics at the University of Cologne , Gawel was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. did his doctorate and habilitation in 2004 at the University of Augsburg in economics. In 1995 he was visiting professor at the DFG graduate college "Risk Regulation and Private Law" at the Faculty of Law at the University of Bremen .

After scientific stations u. a. At the Financial Research Institute at the University of Cologne, the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn , and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) at Bielefeld University , Gawel has been Professor of Economics since 2001. Since 2008 he has held a professorship for economics, in particular institutional environmental research , at the University of Leipzig in joint appointment with the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Leipzig . At the University of Leipzig, he has been director of the Institute for Infrastructure and Resource Management since 2008 and at the same time deputy head, since 2014 head of the Department of Economics at the UFZ. Gawel is co-initiator of the UFZ Science Blogs "ENVIRONMENT research " at Scilogs .

Since 2002 he has been a publicly appointed and sworn expert for the cost accounting of public and non-commercial enterprises; the appointment has been made since 2003 by the Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Commerce and Industry (previously by the Berlin Chamber of Commerce ).
