The Symphonic Wind Orchestra Obere Nahe (SBO) is a symphonic wind orchestra based in Idar-Oberstein in Rhineland-Palatinate .

In 1991 and 2007, the orchestra received the title of Best Wind Orchestra in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate at the Rhineland-Palatinate orchestra competition . The interpretations of SBO were from the broadcasters SR and SWR received and sent.

The conductor Jochen Lorenz was born in Trier in 1973 and studied trumpet at the Saarbrücken University of Music from 1993–1997 . He has been a member of the orchestra since 1990, and has been the orchestra's conductor since 2001. His main job is the director of the Kirn-Meisenheim-Bad Sobernheim e. V. and lecturer at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken. In 2010 he received the Medal of Honor from the Birkenfeld district, also because of his work at the SBO.
