The synagogue in Sedan , a French city ​​in the Ardennes department in the historic Lorraine region , was built in 1878. The address of the synagogue is 6 avenue de Verdun. The synagogue has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1984 .

history

After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the annexation of Alsace and parts of Lorraine by the German Reich , Jewish residents moved from these areas to Sedan in order to be able to continue living in France. The synagogue in Sedan was built for the growing number of parishioners. The building is located on a two-kilometer avenue that was built between 1876 and 1878.
