Synagogue (Esslingen)
The synagogue in Esslingen is located in Heppächer 3 in Esslingen am Neckar ( Baden-Württemberg ). The former guild house of the tailors was converted into a synagogue in 1819 , desecrated in 1938 and has served as a synagogue again since March 2012.
history
At the beginning of 1819 the Jewish community in Esslingen acquired a two-story half - timbered house in Heppächer, the former guild house of the tailors, which was converted into a Jewish community center with a synagogue, classroom and prayer apartment by September 1819. The house was renovated in 1889/90, with the prayer room on the first floor receiving new furnishings and seating. The synagogue was desecrated during the Reichspogromnacht in 1938 .
Since March 2012 the building has been used as a synagogue again. The Jewish community is looked after by Rabbi Yehuda Pushkin.
