history

The new synagogue in the neo-Romanesque style, with oriental elements, replaced an older synagogue in the same place that had been destroyed by fire. It was built according to the plans of the architects František Skřivánek and J. Spidil.

The secular synagogue building was used for years as a Protestant church and now serves as a branch or archive for the State Jewish Museum . During the 1990s the building was extensively restored.
