Synagogue (mills)
The synagogue in Mühlen , a district of Horb am Neckar in the Freudenstadt district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1811/12. The synagogue at Rottenburger Straße 5 was sold by the Jewish community of Mühlen in 1922 and then rebuilt by the new owner into a residential building that has been preserved to this day.
history
In 1810, the Jewish community acquired the property and then commissioned the Mühlen master carpenter Konrad Müller with the construction according to the plans of the master mason Gsell from Eutingen . At that time, 22 Jewish families with 84 people lived in Mühlen. About half of the costs were raised by selling the seats in the synagogue to the parishioners. The remaining amount was financed by a loan from the manor .
In 1921 the number of Jews in Mühlen had become so small that the community applied to the Israelite Higher Church Authority for self-dissolution and integration into the Jewish community of Horb . In 1922 the synagogue was sold and converted into a residential building by the buyer.
