The synagogue in Mediaș (German Mediasch ), a Romanian city ​​in the Sibiu district in Transylvania , was built in 1896 and later expanded with side extensions. The building is structured by pilasters and high arched windows. The interior is divided into the entrance area and the prayer room. The entrance area on the west side consists of three rooms. On the right is a room reserved for Torah studies , on the left a staircase leads to the women's gallery . The prayer room is 18 by 11 meters and is surrounded on three sides by the women's gallery. In the middle of the room is the bima , which is framed by a turned wooden railing. Above the Torah shrine on the eastern wall are the tablets of the Law with the Ten Commandments. The wall paintings depict the menorah , lions, the Star of David , the Ten Commandments, the city of Jerusalem and plant motifs.
