At the age of 15, Maurberger took part in FIS races and junior races from December 2010 . He started out in all disciplines, but soon began to specialize in slalom and giant slalom. His first appearance in the European Cup was in December 2013, and a month later he celebrated his first victory in an FIS race. Maurberger made his World Cup debut on October 26, 2014 in the giant slalom in Sölden , where he finished 59th. In the further course of the winter of 2014/15 he established himself with several top 10 placements in the European Cup, and in February 2015 he was the Italian giant slalom junior champion.
On December 12, 2015, Maurberger took 21st place in the giant slalom in Val-d'Isère and thus scored his first World Cup points. On January 13, 2016, he achieved his first victory in a European Cup race in Folgaria in the same discipline, followed by a second place two weeks later. In contrast, he stayed in five other World Cup appearances without winning points. After a cautious start to the 2016/17 season, Maurberger achieved 15th place in the giant slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 29, 2017 and was thus better placed in the World Cup than ever before. In the winter of 2017/18 he achieved two European Cup podiums (one of which was a victory), but in six World Cup appearances he did not score a single point.
Maurberger showed greatly improved performance in the 2018/19 season, especially in slalom races. He won World Cup points five times, while he won three European Cups. At the 2019 World Cup in Åre , he surprisingly won the bronze medal in the team competition . In the European Cup, he won the overall ranking.
