Torah shrine

The synagogue in Mondovì , a city in the northern Italian region of Piedmont , was established in the second half of the 18th century. The baroque synagogue is located in Via Vico 65, in the center of the former Jewish ghetto . Since there is no longer a Jewish community in town, it is no longer used.

description

The synagogue was set up on the second floor of a residential building. The building was not allowed to be recognizable as a synagogue from the street, so it was prescribed for the Jewish community. The bima in the middle of the room is adorned by eight columns. The Torah shrine is flanked by two twisted columns on which a blown triangular gable rests. In the gable are the tablets of the law . A menorah is depicted on the two doors of the shrine .
