history

The Jewish community of Casale Monferrato was a large and wealthy Jewish community for centuries , which is why they were able to build this splendid synagogue , which is still used for worship today . The synagogue, built in baroque style, has a monumental Torah shrine . On both sides of Toraschreins are large plasterwork , the Jerusalem and another unidentifiable city represent. There are many Hebrew inscriptions on the walls that, among other things, deal with the history of the synagogue.

In 1866 the synagogue was enlarged and extensively renovated. A pulpit was built and the women's galleries expanded.
