The synagogue in Josefstadt ( Romanian Sinagoga din Iosefin ) is a synagogue in Strada Iuliu Maniu No. 55 in the IV. District Iosefin ( German  Josefstadt ) in the western Romanian city ​​of Timișoara ( German  Timişoara ).

history

The synagogue was built in the Moorish style in 1895 . It is currently the only active of the three large synagogues of the Jews still living in Timișoara. The 2002 census identified 367 Jewish residents in the city. The community belongs to the belief system of neological Judaism. A primary school and a kindergarten were run in the synagogue's courtyard.
