Synagogue in Kippenheim, around 1895

Using the example of the synagogue in Kippenheim , the functionality of a synagogue building fund can be demonstrated. The statutes were adopted by the Jewish community assembly in Kippenheim in October 1842. The Synagogenrat applied to the August 17, 1943 at the District Office Ettenheim approval of Synagogenbaukasse, which took place on August 31 1843rd

The statutes laid down the financing modalities for the synagogue building. This included:

  • a contribution for each head of the family,
  • the sales proceeds for the old synagogue,
  • the sales proceeds for the barn on the synagogue building site and
  • the auction of the synagogue spaces (a printed deed of purchase was given to the buyer ).

Fundraising from the neighboring Jewish communities was not carried out because the Jewish community of Kippenheim was one of the more affluent in the district. The construction of the synagogue in Kippenheim finally took place after delays from 1850 to 1852, on 23/24. January 1852 the inauguration took place.

Synagogue building funds were set up for the construction of the following synagogues (incomplete)
