Ruhrort synagogue district

The Synagogue District Ruhrort , based in Ruhrort , has been a district of Duisburg in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1905 , was created according to the Prussian Jewish Law of 1847 .

From 1854, the Jewish community of Ruhrort initially belonged to the Duisburg synagogue district as a special community . In 1878/79 the Ruhrort synagogue district, which also included Meiderich , Laar , Stockum and to some extent Beeck and Beeckerwerth , was built.

In 1925 there were 487 Jews in the Ruhrort synagogue district and 400 in 1932. In 1932, Duisburg-Beeck, Duisburg-Laar and Duisburg-Meiderich were connected. In 1937 the synagogue districts of Duisburg, Hamborn and Ruhrort were merged.
