The Synthomer is an international company in the chemical industry specializing in synthetic latex .
Around 1900 employees produce and sell latex and other emulsion polymers at a total of 33 locations, including Germany, Finland, Italy, Dubai and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) . The company is based in Harlow , Great Britain, and had annual sales in 2011 of almost 1.5 billion euros.
In 2011 Synthomer and PolymerLatex merged . Since then the company has been one of the world's leading suppliers of latex and specialty chemicals.
The company's customers come from the fields of construction products, paints and varnishes, protective gloves , adhesives, and the paper, carpet and textile industries.
The main German location is in Marl , where the company operates three of its 19 production plants around the world in addition to its sales and marketing headquarters for Europe in the Dorsten / Marl industrial park in the chemical park .
