The Daily Rundschau was a newspaper published from May 15, 1945 to the end of June 1955 by the Red Army or Soviet Army in the Soviet Occupation Zone or the GDR . She initially described herself as the “front newspaper for the German population”. Above all, the cultural area, which was designed on the one hand by the Soviet editors who are particularly familiar with German culture, and on the other by young politically unaffected young authors, earned a very good reputation. The Berliner Verlagsanstalt GmbH was responsible for printing .

Later it appeared with the subtitle "newspaper for politics, economy and culture". Its propaganda tasks were taken over by the SED newspaper Neues Deutschland and other GDR party newspapers.

The German employees of the Daily Rundschau included Karl Heinz Schleinitz , Wolfgang Leonhard , Wolfgang Harich , Karl Grünberg and Stefan Heym as well as Ingeborg Meyer-Rey as a press illustrator. Alexander Dymschitz was one of the Soviet press officers who were responsible for them . Until the end, the management of the newspaper was resided with the Red Army, who specified the topics and direction.
