The Täumerhaus was a bar and accommodation facility in Erlabrunn in the Saxon Ore Mountains , whose beginnings go back to 1652. The building existed until 2005 when it was demolished.

Geographical location

Originally the Täumerhaus or Teumerhaus was located as a mining hut house on Poststrasse between Schneeberg and Johanngeorgenstadt , about 500 m south of Erlabrunn in the Schwarzwassertal . After being destroyed by a fire in 1905, the new Täumerhaus was built diagonally across from the Erlabrunn railway station as a hotel, while a new residential building was built at the old fire site in Georgenthal.

history

Hotel Täumerhaus (1934)

Daniel Horbach , a Bohemian exile from the mining town of Platten , built a colliery with an attached stamping mill on the west bank of the Schwarzwassertal in 1652 . He sold this building complex in 1678 to Christoph D (e) ybner (different spelling Teubner), whose name was transferred to the house.

His descendant Johann Georg Teubner († 1740) acquired the license to run beer and sell brandy and bread in 1717. A few years later this right was extended to include accommodation.

With the expansion of the Poststrasse leading through the valley in 1829 and the opening of the railway line from Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb in 1883 . After Johanngeorgenstadt the Däumerhaus experienced a new boom. With the increase in hiking and the development of winter sports at the end of the 19th century, the hotel achieved the greatest popularity. This development was ended by a major fire in 1905 that destroyed the Däumerhaus down to the foundation walls.

The new Däumerhaus was built directly within the local area of Erlabrunn, not far from the confluence of the Steinbach into the Schwarzwasser, and developed into a nationally known hotel. In 1923 the structure of the inn was expanded. After 1945, the Erlabrunn municipal administration was briefly located in the building. At the end of the 1950s, the Däumerhaus was used as a bismuth retail restaurant .

After the reunification in 1990, the well-known hotel was closed and completely demolished at the end of 2005 due to dry rot infestation . All that remains is the small front garden that was once used as a beer garden. In 2009, a plaque with a historical view and a short historical outline of the building was set up on the area of the Däumerhaus.
