The Brandberg is a 713 m high mountain in the Saxon Ore Mountains . It is located between the Breitenbrunn districts of Steinheidel and Erlabrunn , north of the state road 272 from Johanngeorgenstadt to Schwarzenberg . According to the natural map of Saxony , the Brandberg is located in the mesogeochore "Abachung am Schwarzwasser".

At the foot of the Brandberg which was Täumerhaus . On its southeast side, where it drops steeply to State Road 272, is the Hefekloßfelsen, a geological natural monument ( wool sack weathering ). The ditch of the cardboard factory Carolathal , which branches off from the Schwarzwasser, crosses under the yeast dumpling rock .

Mining

At the Brandberg, tin , feldspar , kaolin and iron had been mined since the 16th century . Well known by name is the Friedefürst Erbstolln mine .
