The Téllez Point is a headland in the northeast of Elephant Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 3 km west of Cape Valentine .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2019. It is named after José Muñoz Téllez, boatswain on the Yelcho under Captain Luis Pardo , with whom on August 30, 1916 the rescue of the participants of the Endurance Expedition (1914–1917) stranded on Elephant Island by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton .
