T-Net

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

T-Net is the name of nationwide available in Germany public telephone network (Public Switched Telephone Network - PSTN) of Deutsche Telekom .

In 1979 the decision was made to completely digitize the analog telephone network of the time . Initially, the switching technology and the transmission technology between the exchanges and then, from 1989, the access network and the subscriber connections were digitized by the start of ISDN operations. The complete digital expansion of T-Net was completed at the end of 1997. The T-Net is operated by the fixed network division of Telekom (formerly T-Com ). The original plans of the former postal ministry provided that full digitization would not be completed until around 2012.

T-Net (short for “T-Net connection”) also stands for the analog fixed network connection in Deutsche Telekom's parlance , while the digital connection is called T-ISDN .

In addition, T-Net (short for “T-Net Standard” or “T-Net Standard Connection”) also refers to the “standard connection” tariff for analogue landline connections, which was marketed until February 28, 2005 . Since then, it has only been available to existing customers who have not switched to another provider or to one of the numerous new tariffs that Deutsche Telekom has been offering since March 1, 2005. It is also the tariff with the lowest monthly basic charge of all Telekom landline connections.

At the end of 2007, Telekom operated 31 million of the 38 million landline connections in Germany, corresponding to a market share of almost 81.4 percent.
